About the role

The Safety Manager evaluates current safety protocols at client sites, and designs, develops, and implements strategic, client-specific safety programs according to current laws and best practices. Oversees organization's environmental health and safety programs and procedures at various client sites to safeguard employees and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations. Interprets internal and external business issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Serves as subject matter expert, solves complex problems, and takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations

What you'll be doing

  • Routinely visits client sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials.
  • Evaluates, assesses and alters safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees and clients.
  • Researches and implements new materials handling processes.
  • Analyzes accident reports and evaluates injury case studies based on available facts.
  • Prepares and conducts safety training sessions for employees and clients.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Researches environmental regulations and policies and institutes changes to ensure compliance.
  • Tracks incident metrics and applies and reports findings.
  • Leads injury and incident inquiries and evaluations and develops plans to mitigate future incidents.
  • Serves as subject matter expert regarding safety protocols, laws, best practices, and programs.
  • Acts as liaison to client and Risk Management department.
  • Leads and/or participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

About you

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in risk management, business or a related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of related safety program creation and management in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment required. Equivalent combination of post high school education and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Willingness and ability to travel (up to 50%) is required.

  • Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of management and non-management employees.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Advanced ability to identify complex problems, review related information and develop and implement solutions
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information, including knowledge of and ability to interpret Occupational Safety & Health administration regulations and the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Advanced ability to evaluate and/or enhance existing and new processes.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to understand the concepts, best practices and standards for handling and resolving a variety of workers' compensation, liability, and property claims.
  • Advanced knowledge of and the ability to interpret and understand related federal, local and state laws, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance coverage types, products and uses.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terms and claims management for workers' compensation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $76,136 - $139,582. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, key skills, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the position is also eligible for incentive compensation based on achievements outlined in the compensation plan.

Benefit offerings for full-time employment include medical, dental, vision, term life and AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, wellness plans, and a 401k plan or a non-qualified deferred compensation plan. Available paid leave includes Personal Time Off (PTO) on an accrual basis up to 152 hours a year, 10 Paid Holidays, 1 Community Service Day, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the Calendar year.
